Plus, my mom was proud. Applying for the job with Alpha Prime took courage, and it was her motherly duty to tell me so. That was how she put it, at least. Her cheeks pinked with excitement and mischievousness, Ethel looking youthful and coy. Nothing at all like the happy homemaker and mother that I’d known all my life.

“Life is an adventure, sweetie!” she shrieked, hugging me hard, the smell of baking bread clinging to her like perfume. “When I was your age, the world was my oyster. They were the good ol’ days. Affairs with men I hardly knew. Men in Africa, Asia, Europe. Sometimes women too! I know you probably think your old mom is too boring for that kind of thing, but it’s the truth!” Mom giggled, shivering with naughty pleasure, like she was remembering each and every one of those affairs in great detail.

  “What?” I asked, incredulously.

  Not my mom! No way!

Ethel Baxter, the pinnacle of motherhood, baked cookies and had a part-time online business. Dinner was waiting for my dad every night, almost as though she were still stuck in the 1950s. There was no way a woman like my mother had any kind of adventures—especially not of the sexual sort.

Still, she pulled me down to sit next to her on the sofa in the ordinary house she shared with Dad. The two of them had been married for almost twenty years, living a quiet, Christian life ever since they were wed in my father’s childhood church. I never expected that my mother had done anything exciting. As a matter of fact, having affairs with a number of men (and women) went against everything that she seemed to believe in.

But Ethel had a secret. The look on her face gave her away.

“Katy,” she started, “if I didn’t have that wild life during my younger years, I couldn’t be as happy as I am now. Living the clean, Christian life that I do is only possible because all of that is out of my system. Can you understand that?” Her brown eyes sparkled with hints of the past. “I sowed my wild oats, doing unspeakable acts with all kinds of people—men and women—in all kinds of places. Traveling and meeting people just like me—people that wanted to explore their sexuality—well, that was my calling back then. After it was all said and done, I found a nice safe man in a quiet place to start a life with. Church replaced touching. The Bible replaced sex. Your father and myself are only happy together because I’m not aching to try new things.” Mom smoothed my hair and tucked a lock of it behind my ear. “Life tastes better with a little adventure to sweeten it, my Katy. Sometimes, you have to go for it.”

  “But…” I trailed off.

I was unsure of what to say. The Alpha Prime job was just a way to pass the time while working on my novel. It wasn’t supposed to be a long-term gig, let alone the beginning of some kind of crazy sex adventure.

“Honestly, it was a little worrying when you were always trying to be the ‘good girl’,” Mom said with a smile. “Everyone needs to live a little! Now, it’s time to meet new people, do new things, live the rock star life. I’m so excited for you, sweetheart! Go apply. Give it your best shot. You need this. They always say to travel when you’re young, and I completely agree.”

  “You really think so?”

Grasping everything that she had just told me was proving to be difficult. Mothers aren’t supposed to tell their daughters such things—not even when it’s true. Half of me was intrigued. The other half wanted to forget her entire confession.

But Ethel was on a roll, nodding solemnly.

“I really do think so, sweetheart. Go find your destiny.”

“I guess it’s time to apply then. The page is already pulled up on my laptop,” I said with a small smile. “Thanks, Mom.”

A sexual rampage wasn’t exactly on my shortlist of possibilities, but living a more exciting life was. At least it wouldn’t hurt to apply for the position.

“Yes! Go! And good luck!” chirped my mom.

After our conversation, I researched everything possible about being a good personal assistant. At first, the job was just a placeholder. The pay would be incredible. There would be a lot of new people to meet. Yet, after talking to my mother, the job wasn’t just something to do while I worked on my writings. I craved it.

Having sex with the band wasn’t part of the plan. It wasn’t even in the realm of possibility frankly. After all, they were too attractive for someone like me, rock stars to my plump, dowdy self.

But maybe I’d meet some hot rock and roll fans during the tour. Tattooed dream boys would surround me each and every day, chanting Alpha Prime’s lyrics. That wouldn’t be so bad.

Actually, I would rather enjoy it.

But nerves got the best of me when meeting with Alpha Prime’s manager. I hadn’t had a job interview since the age of fifteen, and that was just to flip burgers. Plus, Burger Joint turned me down for reasons unknown. Go figure. How much skill does it take to flip patties?

So it was quite a surprise when I got a call back for the personal assistant job. A fast food joint didn’t even want me. Why would Alpha Prime be any different?

Just as I expected, it was the job interview from hell.

Helena Reece was intimidating to say the least. As soon as I saw her in person, it was clear why she was a manager.

Middle-aged with brown hair scraped back from a face that was both extraordinarily beautiful and extraordinarily scary, the woman was a hard-ass. She made me feel like I was about to be cut in two. With a fierce look and soul-piercing eyes, Helena Reece was the epitome of management material.

As for me, I was in my best dress. It was a birthday gift—floral and feminine. When looking in the mirror, I felt beautiful. That is, until Helena stared me down. Suddenly, my confidence evaporated.

Her strong gaze reminded me of the time that I tried out for the cheerleading squad in the ninth grade. It was a nightmare that was painful to relive.

“I think you’re too big even for the bottom of the pyramid,” Amanda Hartwell had smirked all those years ago. “Lose ninety pounds and try again next year.”

The memories rushed back, painful and heart-wrenching. I waited for Helena to say something, half-expecting the worst. Something along the lines of:

“There was a slim girl that I interviewed just before you that might be more to the band’s taste.”

Because after leaving high school, I hoped that the bullying would be over. But the chances of that were slim. People are people, from age three to thirty.

So I’ve tried to adapt, letting the comments roll off my back. Being thick and curvy had its downsides, but I knew how to dress. Admittedly, the floral dress was a little tight. It seemed appropriate enough, though. I wore it on a lunch date with my mother, who thought it was absolutely adorable on me. To be fair, she had to think that. I’m her daughter, after all.

By contrast, Helena Reece looked me up and down with crisp, no-nonsense eyes of jade. I felt like a cheap piece of meat, mostly because it seemed like she was even checking out my tits and my ass. That couldn’t be it, though. She did not seem like the unprofessional type.

  Two minutes passed.

  Wow, this was awkward.

The woman said nothing. Instead, the clean-cut manager simply kept looking over me like a prize filly up for sale. It was uncomfortable. Strange even. What woman does this to another woman?

Then, after at least another five painful minutes, she sniffed at me and said, “You'll do.”

  I almost passed out.

  That’s all?

“What? You don’t have any questions for me?” I asked her, still too shocked to keep my mouth shut.

Helena drew in a deep breath. Her patience was being tested. “Fine...” She looked down at the application in front of her. “...Katy. Tell me some key things about yourself and why you'd be a good fit for Alpha Prime.”

It was a question that I had prepared for.

“Well, first of all, my attention to detail is impeccable. I had spectacular grades all throughout high school, graduating as salutatorian. College plans are to come later on, but if this works out
, Alpha Prime will have my full attention.”

Perhaps that wasn’t quite true. Writing and college still seemed more important than working with the band. I wanted a job, though, and sometimes, job interviews require some truth-bending.

My spiel lasted only a minute, but Helena looked bored already.

“Attention to detail?” she practically sneered at me. Then, the jade-eyed woman looked slowly down my dress, stopping at chest-level. Unable to help it, I looked down and let out a yelp. One of my buttons had unfastened itself. My boobs and lacy black bra peeked out from between the cotton flowers.

  Oh god, oh god.

  Why now?

  On an interview, no less?

Cursing the dress, I fastened the button. But the woman seemed unfazed. Helena didn’t ask me any more questions. Why not? Surely, she needed to justify hiring a girl like myself? With no experience and no real selling points, there was no reason to hire me. Honestly I was surprised that she called to schedule an interview.

Because it was unbelievable, really. Helena called me back within twenty-four hours after my mom’s heart to heart. I imagined the woman had to go through a lot of applicants before she got to my submission, which meant that she chose me right away.

  But why?

  What made me so special?

The Alpha Prime guys were globally renowned rock stars.

  Sex symbols.

The type of guys that women wanted and men wanted to be.

But the world moves in mysterious ways. Because after I finished telling her about my background babysitting non-rock stars, Helena looked me up and down one last time.

“Enough. I have another meeting that I cannot miss.”

I opened my mouth to protest. The unbuttoned dress fiasco had dug a grave just for me. There was no coming back from such unprofessionalism.

But then Helena chirped, standing up abruptly.

  “You’re hired.”

I literally couldn’t speak for a moment. What in the world? How was this possible?

  Fortunately, words finally came.

“Really? I-I mean…thank you! Thank you so much!”

She waved me off. “Let’s not get too personal here. There will be a set of plane tickets waiting for you at the airport. You’ll be going to Detroit to meet the band tomorrow. Have you been to Detroit Metro before?”

  I shook my head no.

“Then you’ll want to leave early. It’s a big airport and I don’t want you to be late. If you’re late, you’re fired. Got it?”

“Got it!” I replied with a prompt nod. “I won’t be late, ma’am.”

“Don’t call me ma’am,” she scoffed. “Do you have a passport?”

There had never been a reason for me to leave the country.

“No,” I replied, shaking my head. “That isn’t a deal-breaker, is it?”

“No, but it is an inconvenience. We’ll have to get you one. I can expedite the process but it can still take a little while. We’re going to be touring outside of the United States eventually, and if the guys decide to keep you, you’ll need to be able to get out of the U.S.,” Helena explained, scribbling down notes. “Don’t leave your house tonight. My runner has a very loose schedule, so I don’t know when you should expect him. You miss the runner, you miss your flight. You miss your flight, you don’t have the job. Do you understand?”

This woman was downright scary, and I nodded like a frightened rabbit.

  “I understand.”

“Good. Now leave. I have things to do.”

I stood up to leave before turning and inquiring, “Um, ma’am? Do you have my address?”

She pointed at the application in her hands, saying nothing. Her eyes told me to leave as quickly as possible.

So I did, rushing out of there like a woman with her hair on fire.

I've never packed so fast in my life.

A new adventure. Material for my novel. More money than I knew how to spend.

  It all felt so surreal.

I was living a fairytale. And yet, if things didn’t move fast, the opportunity would disappear—or that’s what it seemed like, anyway.

Most applicants would have to be a personal assistant for years before getting hired by three rock stars. And yet, I'd lucked out on my first interview. A lot of people in the field would say that’s impossible.

Inwardly squealing, I folded my favorite polo shirts and khaki pants—eight of each. From what I read about touring, sometimes it was hard to get to a Laundromat. Preparation was key.

Plus, I couldn’t stop thinking about the money. Not that I’m obsessed with cash. But I’d be making six figures! Most new assistants only make half of that, at best. It was real hard to believe.

Trying to calm down, I took myself off to bed. But there was too much adrenaline running through my frame. I was about to meet the men that been on my mind for days. Their photographs were enough to drive any girl to madness. They were angels. Sensual, hard-bodied angels.

  Or demons, let’s face it.

  Nick, Trent, and Mason.

I thought that Trent was the best looking one. Perhaps, it was due to the photogenic angles photographers chose for him. Maybe it was his strong fan-base. Either way, I had been such a naïve girl. All of Alpha Prime’s members were equally sexy, and anyone that met them knew it.

My core quivered, and I wet my lips. Even walking in to give them water had been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Because I was already a ball of nerves from the interview and application process. But meeting them—that was the main event.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well.

I made a fool of myself, per usual. The men were welcoming, but it didn’t make them any less intimidating. I couldn’t speak, couldn’t move. Even thinking was hard. Their effect on me was mesmerizing. How was I going to be their personal assistant acting like a pile of goo? It didn’t seem possible.

Perhaps it was unethical, but they were the first men that I truly wanted. All three of them, at once.

Stop it, Katy! Be professional! Helena could have your job in a millisecond.

Lusting after them was not an option.

I was their assistant. A girl they barely even noticed.

They’re your bosses. Stop thinking of them as more than that.

But at the same time, I was embarrassed for those poor, naked girls. Throwing themselves at the guys like that and then getting thrown out butt-naked. It must have been a nightmare!

If they didn’t like girls like that, then there was no way that they would go for a girl like me.

So reality was hard. But my mind wouldn’t stop fantasizing. Because what would I do if I could have any one of the three? What would I do if I could have all of them?

Stop dreaming. You should be working, I scolded myself inwardly. Helena is the queen of hard-asses. She can take this job away in a snap.

I flushed and braced myself against the wall while people streamed past me, going about their business. They were probably getting the amphitheater ready for the next giant event. It was a big place, and there were shows every night. Maybe even two shows per night, who knew. I hoped that the passerby couldn’t tell what I was feeling or thinking.

But still, my mind did somersaults.

Mason had stared at me intently with his gorgeous blue eyes. Trent’s hard chest rippled with muscles. And the bulge in Nick’s jeans had seemed huge—as if it were swollen and engorged, wrapping all the way around his waist.

But that wasn’t possible. He’d probably stuffed it with a sock for the show.

That has to be it. No dick is that big.

Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as lust flooded my panties. Because this is what it was like to have a crush. Yet, I had never had a crush that made me so horny. Looking at their pictures wasn’t enough. Meeting them in person had shown me why I had a libido in the first place.

There has to be a bathroom nearby. A few pets and this can be over. I just need to get this out of my
system.

My body jolted. The bathroom seemed far away, even if it wasn’t. Nature was taking its course, and I wasn’t even in a private place.

“Oh!” a gasp emitted from my throat due to the sudden pleasure and pain.

  “You okay, hun?”

I jerked myself out of my libidinous haze to stand properly on my feet. A passing tech with a headset and concerned brown eyes looked at me. She put a hand on my shoulder. “Do you need some water or something?”

“No, no. I'm fine.” I took a breath, then another.

The tech looked down at my lanyard.

“Oh, you're the guys' new assistant,” she chuckled, pushing a violet lock behind her ear. “You just met them, huh?”

I blushed. “Y-yes, just a few minutes ago.”

  Is this a common reaction?

“It's okay. You're just human like the rest of us,” the girl giggled, patting me on my shoulder. “Good luck. They go through assistants faster than they do water.”

Then she walked off, smirking, like there was something going on that I didn't know about.

  What’s going on here?

My thighs shifted together, rubbing my clit and making me pant. Lust tightened into a fist deep in my belly. I immediately forgot about the strange words from the tech.
